From Volunteering to Thriving: How Knowledge is Transforming a Pastor’s Family and Community

Pastor Tumusiime Emmanuel’s journey shows how knowledge can transform families and communities. Through SAO Uganda’s Church and Community Transformation initiative, he gained skills in farming, savings, and enterprise development, enabling his family to start poultry and pig-rearing businesses that provide food, income, and support their children’s education. His experience has also inspired the church and community to embrace savings, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods.

Children Lead the Way in Promoting Hygiene and Child Participation in Napak

The Day of the African Child 2026 celebrations brought excitement, learning, and hope to children and families across Lorengechora Sub County in Napak District. Organized under the theme "Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa," the event provided a unique platform for children to express themselves, showcase their talents, and advocate for improved hygiene practices in their communities.

260 Children and Caregivers Benefit from Integrated Health Outreach in Napak

SAO Uganda through its Child-Centred Community Development (CCCD) Project with support from Help a Child Africa (HACA), reached 260 children, caregivers, pregnant women, and adolescent girls during a two-day integrated health outreach in Lorengecora Sub-county, Napak District. The outreach provided essential services including immunization, antenatal care, deworming, malaria testing, growth monitoring, nutrition counseling, and health education, bringing critical healthcare closer to vulnerable communities while promoting healthier families and improving maternal and child health outcomes.

Parenting Beyond Provision: A Success Story from Lokeru Village

After attending a positive parenting training, Simon and Betty realized parenting goes beyond giving birth to actively nurturing and supporting their children. They now share responsibilities, show more love at home, and have created a happier, more connected family while also encouraging others to embrace positive parenting.

SAO gives out 2000 birds to 400 families in Abim

With support from Help a Child, Share An Opportunity Uganda (SAO U) distributed 2,000 Kuroiler chickens (1,600 hens and 400 cocks) to 400 vulnerable households in Awach and Lotuke sub-counties, Abim District, to improve nutrition, food security, and household incomes. Before the distribution, beneficiaries received training in poultry management, while SAO also vaccinated over 5,000 existing birds to prevent disease and ensure the success of the initiative.
