How can I volunteer with SAO Uganda?

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds! You can apply through our website by filling out the volunteer application form. We offer both short-term (2-12 weeks) and long-term (6-12 months) volunteer opportunities in education, healthcare, community development, and administration.

How can I donate to SAO Uganda?

You can donate to SAO Uganda through multiple channels: online via our secure payment gateway on our website, bank transfer to our official account, mobile money (MTN and Airtel), or by contacting our office directly. All donations are tax-deductible and receipts are provided.

Donations

At SAO Uganda, we are committed to transparency. Approximately 85% of every donation goes directly to our programs and beneficiaries. The remaining 15% covers essential administrative costs and fundraising activities. We publish detailed annual reports showing exactly how funds are utilized.

Technical

Yes! We offer paid and unpaid internships throughout the year for students and recent graduates. Internship areas include program management, communications, finance, monitoring & evaluation, and community development. Interns work for 3-6 months and gain hands-on experience in development work.

Yes, SAO Uganda is a registered non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible in Uganda. We provide official receipts for all contributions which you can use for tax purposes. For international donors, please consult with your local tax authority regarding deductibility.

Volunteering

Requirements vary by position. For teaching roles, we generally require teaching qualifications or relevant experience. Healthcare positions require medical qualifications. However, we also have many roles that don't require specific qualifications - just enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to learn!

SAO Uganda operates primarily in the central and eastern regions of Uganda, with our main office in Kampala. We have active programs in rural communities across 15 districts, focusing on areas with the greatest need for educational and healthcare support.

Communities can apply for our programs through local leaders or by contacting our office directly. We assess needs, meet with community members, and develop tailored interventions. Priority is given to communities demonstrating commitment to sustainable development and active participation.

Volunteering

Most volunteer positions are unpaid, however we provide accommodation, meals, and local transport for full-time volunteers. Some specialized positions may offer stipends. International volunteers are responsible for their travel costs, visa fees, and travel insurance.
